A member asked:

I sprained my ankle and was taking 1200mg ibuprofen/day for 10 days. i have now stopped and have an annual physical in a week. i have read that ibuprofen can cause a temporary rise in liver enzymes. should i be concerned about my results?

See no reason to anticipate liver function abnormalities, if you feel well, and have no jaundice, color changes in urine or stools, and no nausea or malaise. Typically, if any impact, it will involve mild borderline elevations, but in most cases no perceptible modification.

That was a lot of ibuprofen for 10 days. Ibuprofen does not typically effect the liver enzymes but more the kidney and the stomach. Should always eat before taking any of the ibuprofen type medications.
