You should not be alarmed because your baby seemed not hurt by your elbow. Children are somewhat protected by nature well and that's why some babies fell from bed to ground but they do not sustain any significant injury. I hope I understand your question.

Babies are fairly resilient and should tolerate being prodded with an elbow. It can be very unnerving with a very new newborn. If your baby has eyes open and is eating, moving arms and legs vigorously, you may be assured that all is well.
