A member asked:

Ive had a habit of sleeping with my head under the covers for majority of my pregnancy. i just read that its not good for the baby due to lack of oxygen so now im worried i may have caused brain damage to my unborn child?

I consider the statement a myth. Your own body needs oxygen and when/if you did not get the normal amount while sleeping in any position the fail-safe systems your body uses to keep you going will force you awake. Discuss this with your OBGYN. The pattern your baby grows that is verified during your check-ups shows baby will do fine.

Agree with Dr. Ferguson. You did not deprive yourself or your baby of the needed oxygen. Wish you good health and a healthy baby!
