An exam would be necessary. Depending on the circumstances at the time the pain started, trauma/non-trauma all possibilities have to be considered. Your doc will be able to examine and order test as needed in order to formulate a diagnosis and proper management.

It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. It would be prudent to see a doctor. You may need x-ray examination to rule out broken bone.
