Adenomyosis: the lining of the uterus begins to grow into the muscle wall. This thickened area responds normally to hormones and builds up thicker during your menstrual cycle and experiences sloughing off during your period resulting in heavier bleeding and clots. It is treated with hormones that counteract the estrogens that increase the uterine lining. Loss of estrogen in menopause also helps.

Is pregnancy a possibility? If yes, check for it. If negative, then you’re in peri menopause . F you do not get any periods for six months in absence of pregnancy, you will be in menopause. At this time adenomyosis will start to recede. Hope it helps.

If you had sex since your last period, do a home pregnancy test to rule out pregnancy. Your doctor could do a blood test for FSH to ascertain if you are in menopause. Wish you good health!
