Your partner may not have contacted the herpes I virus at this time, but if contact at other times when the virus was active prior to physical sores present, or with previous exposure to individuals with a positive history, the chances of his being a carrier is high, b/c of the contagious nature of the herpes virus.

HSV Symptoms on finger/mouth got a PCR test for genitals as all was available. So swabbed all 3 locations with SAME swab. came back with HSV-1.is there anyway determine which location the positive HSV1 was from, from a PCR or viral culture test resul?
Do HSV PCR test show the location of which a swab was taken from or would the results look the same regardless of location I.e finger mouth or genitals? Or would result just show genetic marker which would be the same regardless of location/specimen?
