A member asked:

Is it possible for an arachnoid cyst to be misdiagnosed and it actually be a brain tumor? (i know theres always a possibility medicine is not definite but i mean how rare is this?

An arachnoid cyst is not a tumor, but rather a congenital variation. Typically, it is an incidental finding of no consequence. Well trained and experienced radiologists using updated equipment could readily and accurately distinguish a tumor vrs a benign cyst. If you have reason to doubt the accuracy of your films, contact the radiologist and express your concerns.
