Root canal: It often takes several weeks after root canal treatment for the infection to subside, but you should be pain free within days of treatment. Check back with your dentist.

Re evaluation: If you feel your infection has worsened since the root canal we need more history. Do you have fever now? How does the area appear locally? Redness? Swelling? Is your jaw swollen? How does your face appear from the front? Symmetrical? or notable swelling? Do you have followup scheduled with your surgeon? Give your surgeon a call to reiterate post op instructions and explore your concerns.

Call your provider: The tooth neeneeds to be immediately reevaluated. Drainage of the infection or an alternate antibiotic may be indicated.
