Good day i have done a sugar test at home with a reading of 7.4 please advise if i should check this with a doctor ?

Was that a reading fasting, not eating, or taking any drink except water for 8 hours? If so, then that is consistent with diabetes (more details are needed to be sure) . If it is was after eating then repeat the test fasting.
