Less than 100 mg/dL: Normal fasting blood sugar is between 65-99 mg/dl. This needs to be confirmed in a lab because home meters are not considered accurate enough to make a diagnosis. A hba1c may also be helpful. For some, undergoing a 2 hour glucose tolerance test may help in terms of identifying post-prandial blood sugar problems and early diabetes when the fasting information may not be enough.
