I have never seen a study of this. Not likely but they do contribute to the plastic trash problem in the world which is more likely to harm more people. Best to bring your own washed bag I would think. Some let them set for a few days before unpacking but go to CDC guidelines and check their current advice. CDC.gov

Surface contamination is only a minor mode of transmission for COVID 19 so it is not likely. Per WEBMD, the virus may live on stainless steel - 2 to 3 days, a # of other metals -5 days, Aluminum - 2 to 8 hrs, Copper - 4 hrs, wood - 4 days, plastic -2 to 3 days, cardboard - 24 hrs & glass - up to 5 days.
