A member asked:

What exactly is constipation? is it reduced bowel movements or none at all? that being said, can constipation cause rectal pain and pressure?

Both could happen, decreased bowel movements, difficulty with bowel movements (even if you feel the urge). If you don't have one at all for some time.... that's a little more serious and suggests a bowel obstruction. Do remember "normal" bowel movements can have a significant range and still be considered "normal". Usually people can vary between 3 times per day, down to 3 times per week.
