What would cause my stool to be very hard but large and log-like? i generally have regular bowel movements every 1-3 days, so does that mean its not constipation?

What you described is consistent with constipation. - You may take a fiber laxative like Metamucil and drink enough water daily so that your urine is colorless. For the long term you may try to increase your intake of fiber foods. Consult this site for fiber foods.
