Have had bouts of diverticulitis for 40 years. better last few years; none the past 2 years. i had covid in september. am now experiencing my 4th bout of diverticulitis since that time. could there be a correlation between covid & these flareups?

COVID-19 infections have been found to have multiple other system reactions, including bowel disturbances, respiratory symptoms and fatique/lethargy extending for months after a documented infection with COVID-19. See a GI specialist, as there are other effective medications to relieve symptoms of diverticulitis.

Unfortunately, COVID 19 infections can cause GI problems. See: https://www.medpagetoday.com/infectiousdisease/covid19/90513#:~:text=El%2DSerag%20added%20that%20the,IBS)%20and%20other%20chronic%20problems. ** Your increased symptoms may or may not be related to your COVID 19 infection.

As already answered, COVID-19 affects numerous bodily systems, with persistent worsening often over months. Hard to establish confirmed cause and effect, but alert your doctor to the new "bout", and be especially vigilant regarding potential infections of all kinds.
