Thyroiditis is an autoimmune disease where antibodies attack the thyroid tissue. In Phase 1, the tissue damage may cause lowered thyroid hormone levels. In phase 2, the thyroid hormones begin to be overproduced, causing what looks like normal levels of thyroid hormone. There is no way to bring the antibodies down. Weight loss may help to keep you healthier overall and prevent worsening.
