What other symptoms are there to an allergic reaction to having metal hardware installed from surgery? my mother has screws in her ankles from fracturing them after a fall. she has an itchy rash all over her left leg while right leg is normal?

Question often raised but probably very very uncommon. Usually presents as loosing of hardware or persistent pain at ankle NOT due to infection. Itchy rash over injured leg very unlikely due to metal allergy. Far more likely due to brace, external fixation (if there is one) or dressing material.
