No: It should not. The correct name is maisonneuve fractue. The treatment you got was the correct and you should have an excellent result from it, once everything has healed.

Most likely: Assuming that you are talking about a maisonnieuve fracture ... The fixation screw is kept in place for 6-8 weeks during which time weight bearing is restricted. The screw is often removed prior to allowing full weight bearing but there is some variation among doctor's treatment regimen.
