I didn't get a root canal, and i been having off and on tooth pain. recently, stopped but now im having sharp tooth pain shocks back and forth. what's the reason for this pain, and when should i see a dentist?

You should see your Dentist immediately.Further delay can cause swelling of face .In the meantime ask your Dentist to prescribe Antibiotic and pain medication .

It appears that the nerve in that tooth is necrotic and you now need to have root canal therapy. See a dentist ASAP
