Root canals: leave dead tissue in the body. Some folks are able to tolerate that w/no problem at all while others can't. The topic is controversial. If you are not prone to illness and infection you may be able to tolerate root canal but otherwise it may be best to get rid of the tooth. Peace and good health.

Really ?: You see a dentist who actually advocates extracting a restorable tooth just because there is a very small chance that it may become re-infected? Endodontics is a specialized branch of dentistry, and there would be no such specialty if the procedures they are trained to do were harmful to your health. It's plain common sense.
