People with Covid are contagious starting 24-48 hours before they develop symptoms and can be contagious up to 14 days after developing symptoms. The CDC recommends that a person with Covid stay in self-isolation for 14 days minimum. If symptoms worsen or new ones arise (fever, cough, shortness of breath) then the person should stay isolated longer. The test may stay positive for weeks.

Agree with Dr. Kratzberg. How long has he been asymptomatic. If he has remained asymptomatic than contact is likely acceptable.

Somone w/ COVID,is contagious for 10 days & remain contagious until 1) they note symptom improvement & 2) they have been fever free for at least 24 hours, off medicine. For some, it can be up to 20 days. When someone has close exposure to a COVID + person (w/in 6ft x 15+min w/o full PPE), it can take up to 14 days from the date of exposure before you get sick or test +. PCR tests are + for 90d.
