A costochondritis affecting the sternum and rib cage could be an etiology. Referred symptoms from esophagus, stomach, and lung could also be considered. Perhaps a physiatrist would be a good resource at this point.

A number of things can cause noncardiac chest pain including costochondritis, chest wall lesions, lung disease, esophageal and stomach disorders, as well as mediastinal disease, and stress, or anxiety. A good work up can help differentiate some of the causes.

In addition, I would suggest a thorough structural exam to rule out an entrapment neuropathy. This could cause your pain.
