Shooting pains: Sharp, shooting, fleeting pains in the chest, often aggravated by a deep breath, are frequently due to pinching of intercostal nerves or muscles which run between ribs. Are you performing any exercises or activities which put strain on the rib cage? Are you experiencing cramps in other areas of the body? If so get checked for deficiencies of calcium, magnesium and potassium. Discuss with your MD
