It depends what: Your LDL and HDL cholesterol levels are. In general, it is bad if your LDL is high and HDL is low. If you have this pattern and you have a family history of cardiovascular disease, you would be a candidate for statin meds even at your age. Also depends on your other risk factors, such as diabetes, smoking, triglyeride level. It is a complex decision, so ask your doctor for advice.
