Broke vs not: A fractured heel is a broken heel bone or calcaneus, a bone spur is evidence of tight soft tissue attachment to bone and in some patients represents partial calcification of tendon or fascial structure. Unless the patient has diminished sensation, a fracture is always painful, but not all spurs are painful.

A great deal: The fracture can require surgery 3 months of no weight bearings comes after a fall onto your feet the spur is soft tissue inflamation at the attatchment to the heel bone from chronic plantar fasciaitis. Notrauma required removal of spur dosent relieve pain frequently.

Heel Pain: Heel spurs can be treated many different ways..... If a heel bone ( calcaneus ) becomes fractured, and becomes displaced it is a nightmare ( for you)....And many times requires extensive surgery...An long term healing. It is easier to see a specialist, get examined and an x-ray...Rather than gamble the risk.
