A member asked:

I'll ask my ob but just curious if i was strep b positive found early in my urine in my first pregnancy. am i automatically treated as positive because of my first pregnancy or will i most likely need the swab this time around?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

I don't assume: About 30% of women will be strep B positive off & on during pregnancy. The germ is a common one found in the GI tract & is usually not a problem unless in infects a newborn in the delivery period. Swab surveillance is a common standard part of ob care and pre/delivery care.
