A member asked:

If you test positive for covid-19 days after the first shot does it offer some protection?

Depends: Antibody levels begin to rise approximately 5-7 days after first coronavirus vaccine shot and reach a peak after 2-3 weeks. Amount of protection reflects antibody levels. Virtually no protection before the first 5-7 days, some protection with each passing day thereafter. Higher antibody levels usually = less severe and shorter duration of disease

COVID 19 vaccine: Agree with Dr. Lentnek. How many days? The PCR test would not test positive due to having had the COVID 19 vaccine but a serology test might. How were you tested? Protection will not be immediate.
