Not necessarily: Patients have reported mild fever and pain associated tooth eruption (teething). There have been reports of diarrhea as well but i personally feel this is coincidental! tooth eruption has an associated eruption gingivitis which is physiologic. Nsaids are recommended for children experiencing symptoms associated with tooth "teething".

Yes & no: When teething babies can become irritable, develop a low grade fever, become congested, and have diaper rash. They do not get truly sick. If they develop high fever, start throwing up or develop other signs severe signs of illness, this is not teething and they should be evaluated by their pediatrician.
