A member asked:

Should i ask my eye doctor for eye drops to decrease my eye pressure to prevent ? it seems my eye pressure is high. my grandma has glaucoma so i have higher future chances of getting it. should i ask for eye drops to help prevent glaucoma ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Wouldn't think so: It is not prudent to suggest a treatment for a problem that is not present. If concerned, get tested. If your eye doc considers your pressures high treatment is reasonable. If normal, not so much. The condition not inherited directly but as an autosomal recessive condition. (both of your parents must pass the gene). Your chances of acquiring this from your GM are minimal.
