I just had a cat scan done and noted this on the report mild l2 superior endplate compression deformity what does this mean it wasn't there a year ago and i have severe back pain?

Fracture: End plate describes the top/bottom surface of a vertebra. Deformity suggests compression e.g. compression fracture. Meaning the vertebra has lost original height top to bottom. If this was of recent onset (within 6 weeks) pain relieving procedures can be done to place glue into the vertebra for strength (vertebroplastly) or to expand the compression restoring height (kyphoplasty). Trauma: You likely suffered an injury, causing a compression fracture. I agree with Dr Simon, and get this aggressively treated with vertebroplasty if your local doctors agree. Physical therapy and exercise can help but will take longer.
