Bit in the hand by a pitbull 24 hrs ago & i have 3 infected puncture wounds on the thenar region of my hand w/ the surrounding area swollen & purple. im starting to lose sensation in the tip of my thumb is it nerve damage? i already got tetanus shot?

Get evaluated: If the infection reaches the deep tissues of your hand you are likely to require hospital based care & may require surgical exploration to drain deep infection. Get evaluated . Aggressive treatment may stop this before it gets bad. If you have started treatment get re-evaluated.

?cellulitis: It is to be expected that swelling will increase over 24-36 hrs due to inflammation and bruising, BUT, progressive new symptoms and complications are troubling and may suggest local infection, which does indeed require rapid attention. Return to emergency facility, as this needs another look, possibly I & D, and certainly consideration for antibiotics.
