Cactus spine remvd from hand 3 days ago, tetanus shot & septra (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) ds 2x.finger is now swollen, painful& ibu not helping w/ pain or swelling. age 41 female?

If this is change in: Status of finger then it needs to be rechecked. Swelling, redness, heat, increased tenderness, purulent drainage or red streaks are all signs that infection may have set in. Take care.

Two possibilities: Either you have an abscess or infection that needs to be drained or treated with a different antibiotic, or there are remaining spine fragments in the hand that the body is trying to expel. Either way would follow up with a doc.
