Pain?: Anal fissure bleeding is frequently painful, & hemorrhoid bleeding often is not, but it may be difficult to be sure which is causing it. It sounds like you are improving with the BMs: that is good & keep it up! You can use preparation H or small amount of hydrocortisone cream plus triple antibiotic cream to soothe the area.
