Bleeding hemorrhoids: Internal hemorrhoids can bleed spontaneously, and color the toilet water "dark red", but the intense color does not usually represent serious blood loss. Obtain a referral to a colo-rectal surgeon for his/her opinion as to whether surgical repair is appropriate.

MRI is not the optimal way to diagnose colonic bleeding. Your doctor can start by examining the anus, and rectum and if need be perform a colonoscopy.
