Few years my mom 72yrs had slightly elevetad urea from time to time. creatinin was 0.70. 2 years she has bordering a1c 6.1. now creatinine is 1.18. she has kidney cysts and sand. tsh very high&now very low although treated. is it the beginig of ckd?

Possibly: Creatinine of 1.18 is slightly elevated. HgbA1c of 6.1 is pre diabetic. Further testing of kidney function include BUN, creatinine clearance, cystatinC, urinalysis and microscopic examination. Mild kidney failure at this point. Cystic kidney disease may be the main pathology here unless urinalysis demonstrates a lot of protein seen in diabetic complications involving the glomeruli. See nephrologis

Agree with Dr. C: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, the information you provided is a cause for concern and it would be prudent to to see a kidney doctor, nephrologist. Wish you and your mom good health!
