A member asked:

Could an oct scan of the eye pick up any swelling of the optic nerve? eg for ruling out neurological disorders?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Very valuable test: Although OCT measures retinal anatomy, views of distal optic nerve can be obtained. However, retro-orbital and chiasmatic views are not included. An MRI of brain, focusing on optic nerve pathways would provide a more comprehensive picture. The two together would enhance understanding.
