Unlikely: I'd ignore an isolated reported elevation of the mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration, especially if you do not have spherocytosis. I would get a second opinion before accepting the idea it's from your having been a smoker, and would consider the possibility of a lab error. As a lab physician, our motto is, "treat the person, not the numbers." cheers.
