Coincidence: There should be no reason why earplugs should cause tinnitus unless they are so narroew that you have pushed them in far enough to press on eardrums.

Ear plugs : Ear plugs can make tinnitus seem louder because they block environmental sounds that masks or “drowns out” the ringing.

Why do my ears ring so much more after work? I have mild tinnitus and Im an OR nurse. Its never loud or noisy at work, but when driving home from work the ringing seems 10x as bad, like leaving a rock concert without ear plugs. Stress, maybe?
