I25 year old female, not extremely active but have been working out for a month now..basic cardio 4 x a week. ive been monitoring my heart rate and ive noticed when sitting at my desk my hr drops to 48/49..is that a cause for concern?

Yes, get eval: If your testing is correct, ( you may want to double check this) and heart rate really drops in high 40s, this is definitely NOT normal. Call your doc for an eval and cardiac testing to determine why this is happening. Good luck

Usually, normal: For an active young person who exercises regularly, a resting heart rate of 48-49 is within the normal range. However, if one is experiencing chest pain, shortness of breath, dizziness, palpitations or ankle swelling, a careful medical exam is warranted. In addition, one should know whether ones blood pressure is normal (under 135 systolic/80 diastolic, on repeated exams).
