Ear discharge: If he has an earache when touching the ear, ear drops to treat swimmers ear may be indicated rather than oral antibiotics. For middle ear infections, usually associated with cold symptoms and fever, antibiotics may be prescribed by your physician. Adult dosing is 500 twice daily, but please see your pediatrician. A warm compress and Tylenol can relieve pain.
