Eye exam: It is very difficult to diagnose an eye problem without a full exam. Typically, redness of the whites of the eyes and sticky discharge indicate an eye infection. Swelling of the eyelids with discomfort can be a stye forming. Pain deep in the eye with an accompanying headache requires further workup by a Dr after a full exam.
