A member asked:

Ive been told i have a fat pad impingement and a possible medial meniscus tear, what is the difference in the symptoms?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Symptoms: Both are causes of knee pain. Torn cartilage pain may be very positional, there in one position and gone in another. In acute tear of meniscus knee swelling is common. Knee fat pad inflammation usually produces chronic pain when impingement occurs. An mri would show either problem.
