Could be serious: Do you also have an underlying condition such as high blood pressure, kidney disease or any heart condition. High glucose levels can cause a lot of problems, best idea is to be seen and examined by a health care profession very soon.

Edema: Be sure to have your urine tested to determine whether you're losing large amounts of protein causing your serum albumin to be too low as this is a cause of edema seen in diabetics with glomerular kidney damage. High serum glucose levels alone usually wouldn't cause the edema. Cardiac and liver disease are other possible causes of ankle and leg edema. Don't add salt to your food or cooking.
