Basics: Covid patients are considered contagious from 2 days before symptoms start until ~ 7 days after. If you had contact during that interval &/or just want testing it is reasonable. Local standards on who/when to test vary with location. I would contact your doc or local health department for guidance.

COVID 19 concerns: Agree with Dr. Ferguson. If you had a positive COVID 19 contact and your now have COVID 19 symptoms - would recommend a medical consultation with your doctor or via telemedicine/ virtual medicine.
