Bursitis: Need more history, did you injure the shoulder with a fall , repedative activity, is it related to physical exertion , are there associated complaints of shortness of breath or sweating. With the limited history it sounds muscular skeletal in nature like a bursitis or tendinitis. A good physical exam would be very helpful

Considerations: To cover bases, since arm is left, get EKG to clear air. But most likely there is some shoulder impingement and a possible rotator cuff tear or inflammation. See an orthopedic surgeon, as an injection may help, and an arthrogram may be necessary. Consider physical therapy to improve range of motion and comfort.
