Hi dr my mom is 88 she is independant has weak heart bl.pressure is always around 149/52/51 +- fairly strong woman.her gfr is at 10 her renal dr says she might need to start dialysis soon. what would her life expectancy be once she starts dialysis?

Prognosis: Is debatable, specifically given her age and comorbidities, best to comment on finite figures would be her PCP or nephrologist as they have access to her medical details. Less than half of elderly patients end up having dialysis as it does not change significantly prognosis and they experience fatigue and lower quality of life due to intensity of dialysis when compared with traditional care.
