Bloating: A sudden addition of large amounts of fiber to your diet can trigger severe bloating and gas. The trapped gas expands your intestines which can be very painful especially when tightening your abdominal muscles. Try drinking a mixture of bicarbonate soda or an antigas medication to help in the short term. Increase fluid intake, and slowly ramp up the fiber.
