Find out cause: Depending on your age a diagnostic test to rle out obstructive disease such bas colonoscopy should be done.If negative most cases are don t dietary indiscretion such as lack nof fiber in the diet. I would add a high fiber cereal and a daily dose of a fiber suplement such as Metamucil to your diet and obsrve.

Get checked: Get checked. See diet, fluid intake, meds, supplements (e.g. Calcium constipating); may be seen in other problems including gyn, colon masses, diverticulosis (pockets in the wall), internal hernias, poor pelvic support (especially in women who have been pregnant), metabolic issues (underactive thyroid, high blood calcium, depression, and yes, even cancer. C ur doc.

Hard to say: This is all too common. It can start out in early childhood & is often ineffectively managed. By adulthood you should poop at least on any day you eat. You need to find a doc well trained in dealing with the issue, which may be a gastroenterologist.Your large intestine may be overstretched & weak.A rehab program using scheduled emptying, diet modification & meds is needed & may take a year or more
