I am 8 weeks pregnant and am suffering with severe constipation. i have not had a bowel movement in 4 days. i would normally take a laxative. help.

Fiber: Constipation is normal in pregnancy due to an increase in progesterone, it could also be due to iron pills . a diet high in fiber with help to prevent this from happening. Prunes are a good natural laxative. Colace is safe in pregnancy. 30 minutes of exercise daily could help as well. If you do not have a bowel movement, you will need to goto the OB triage dept of your ER.
