NSAIDs: OTC pain meds will help for the short term, giving you time to get to see your dentist. Maxillary posterior teeth that hurt upon biting could be fractured, have a necrotic nerve, have a carious lesion, or have roots with close proximity to an inflamed sinus. In any event you need to see a local dentist to treat the dental issue or rule out any dental problems. Peppermint oil can burn your gums.

Toothache: Many possibilities including tooth infection, gum infection, sinus infection, fracture, parafunctional habits, etc. Sorry, no OTC, homeopathic, oil, salve, pill, etc., will provide permeant cure, only possibly temporary symptomatic relief as problem worsens. Please see a Dentist. He/she is trained/experienced in providing long-lasting care.
