Knee Pain: What you are experiencing is very common. After not running for a while, the joints become stiffer and on resuming running, initially microtrauma and stress on the joints causes the pain to happen. After a bit, these heal and the joints are more supple and strong. When reinitiating running, be less agressive and ease into it. Also stay hydrated and practice proper running and exercise techniques.

Stretching : Your routine could be missing one item, stretching. Your muscles will shorten between your runs therefore before initiating another run stretching would be appropriate and proper. Stretching all muscles groups prior to activity helps overall performance and helps prevent injuries
